Continuous Fencing:  When you decide to build steel corrals, or if you want a solid pen to hold your animals, get SAFE, and do it right with the Trail Hand continuous fencing by Sliver Star Industries.  This fence is designed to keep your animals contained - period.  To install your fence, just lay it out, set your posts, fit the panel into your previous one (male and female slide in attachment) and clamp it into place.  You can even cut the panels to fit tight spaces.  The simple design allows you to be creative when laying out your fence.  This is the only fence that will move with your land - freezing, thawing, shifting terrain.   Wind can not destroy it,  no wire to keep taught, no rough edges for injuries to occur.

The question you must ask yourself is this:  What are my horses worth? What are they worth to me and my family?  What will a good fence do for my property value? How long will a good fence last?  Do I have unlimited time and manpower to maintain a good fence?

I HAVE... answered these questions and this WHY I'm selling this type of fencing.

PORTABLE ELECTRIC FENCING

In as mush as I have seen; from poorly designed and installed electric fencing, I am compelled to realize that it is only under certain conditions that this type of fencing is necessary.

Thus, for portable corrals to be used when camping, we offer Gallagher Fencing which we have found to be the best product. It is well-designed to avoid improper installation and helps avoid injury to your horses. While we do not generally recommend portable corrals for your animals while camping, this fencing does meet our strict quality standards for those occasions when there is no viable alternative. While not shown on this web site or in the Catabook, we can also provide you with fencing supplies for permanent livestock operations. (http://www.gallagherusa.com/)

The package that I have put together IS NOT the pre-pack sold by Gallagher that is the quickie kit made for the sand box type ground.  The products selected below are made for real horse camping with hard ground and years of use.  You get what you pay for.

Frequently asked questions regarding installation:

What size Drinking Post do I need - 6' or 8'?
Determining the correct size of Drinking Post to order is determined by the frost line depth in your local area.  The frost line is the maximum depth that the ground will freeze in the winter.  Proper installation requires that the BASE of The Drinking Post be installed a MINIMUM of 18" below your local frost line to prevent freezing in the winter.
Once you determine your local frost line depth, add 18".  If this figure is equal to or less than 36", order a 6' post.  If you local frost line depth, plus 18" is greater than 36", order an 8' Drinking Post.

What is the frost line in my local area?
There are few avenues one can use to determine the frost line in your local area:
1.)  Contact your local Building Inspection Department
2.)  Contact your counties Water Department.
3.)  Any reputable local excavator will be able to quickly tell you what the frost line is in your local area.
Unfortunately there is no web based service or internet site that lists frost line depths across the country.  However, it is possible the website for you local municipalities (Water or Building department) may list this information online.

Where can I install The Drinking Post?
The Drinking Post can be installed anywhere you have a pressurized water line with at least 45 psi of pressure.  This includes in pastures, barns, paddocks, on a fence line...ANYWHERE.

Installation of The Drinking Post horse waterer is very simple and straight forward.  Below is a drawing of the overall installation requirements.  Click here for detailed written installation instructions in PDF format available to print or download to your computer.  For a PDF version of the illustrations below click here.
