FREE VIDEO available For The Minnesota Horse Training Academy is located in Ogilvie, Minnesota by the Rum River State Forest and Ann Lake.

Decades of knowledge put into a 3-week course designed to teach you to think like a horse trainer. You will learn to train any horse to do any thing physically possible. This is an amazing program, and one of it's kind anywhere.  We have classes in May, June, July, September, and October.  We are also planning a winter class if we have enough response.

  • Class starts the first Monday of the month, except for in June, we start the second Monday to allow for students and teachers to attend.

  •  Classes run Monday-Friday,  9:30-6pm every day. Classroom instruction encompasses the morning and hands on instruction follows all afternoon.

  • We keep our class size at approximately 10 students.  You will get a furnished room, but may have to share with another student. Most students build lasting friendships with their fellow classmates.

  •  During the 3-week class each student will train a horse the basics; neck reining, backing-up, sliding stop, and other basic handling techniques, such as; halter training, gentling, sacking, controlled and free longing, bitting, and flexing.  Students will also desensitize their horse to gunfire and ATV's.

  •  Your horse will learn to stop when a rider falls from the saddle, or steps from the saddle. Your horse will stand like a statue while being mounted or trimmed...

  •  You will also teach your horse tricks and learn the mechanics behind teaching a horse to do anything physically possible, such as bow, sit, play dead, count, shake head yes & no, smile pretty, and give kisses.

  •  The entire class will also train a performance horse, such as a calf roping horse. You will learn how to train a horse to side pass, give to pressure, turning on hind and fore quarters, advancing under saddle, trailer loading, lead changes, and driving a buggy or wagon if that is what you want to learn.

  •  Students also learn how to correct any problem horse such as kicking, rearing, bucking, shying...etc...   You are not limited at all in teaching your horse tricks or performance classes. You can teach your horse to do anything physically possible.

  • At the end of the three weeks you will get a diploma and a graduation ceremony and be able to show off your horse to all your friends.

  •  We recommend bring a tape recorder and notebooks to use your information for future reference.  Our tuition includes the lodging for your and your horse (including weekends), and the valuable hands on training techniques.   YOU must provide your own FOOD. An indoor stall and feed is provided for your horse. We also have hook-ups for campers or RV's.

  •  We will provide a horse for you to train if you don't have one, or can't bring one.  This is a simple, uncomplicated, and safe program with AMAZING results.  You will no longer have to pay for a trained horse, or pay a trainer to train your horses.  You will have control of your horses' training and build your confidence and your horses' confidence in you!
